Minns Orders Bars Closed/Restaurants To Close Early. County Commissioners However Have Final Say

Last Call… MAYBE. Dr. Garold Minns, Sedgwick County’s health officer, said Tuesday that he will issue an order to close bars and nightclubs until September 9 and order restaurants to close at 10pm. He also will drop the limit on public gatherings from 45 to 15 and prohibit fairs, parades and festivals. Two weeks ago, Minns issued an order to require everyone to wear a mask when in a public area. But Minns is not an elected official, so his authority to issue any such order is questionable, and the county commission meets today, when they may change or even override his so-called orders.
