The City Commission in Winfield plans to take a look at madating face coverings in public when they meet today. That announcement now comes after the Cowley County Commission voted last week to opt-out of a statewide executive order by Governor Laura Kelly mandating that masks be worn in public, including outdoors when social distancing was not possible. This afternoon’s meeting is being held online. The public can access the online meeting at www.gotomeet.me/WinfieldKansas or by calling 1-866-899-4679, or 1-789-535-3119 with access code 969-810-229. We have that information posted on our station website under local news in case you missed it. Last Friday, Cowley County commissioners voted unanimously to ignore the governor’s mandate, saying it should be left up to individuals to decide for themselves. Sedgwick, Butler and Sumner counties also rejected the order. Those three counties however, encouraged the use of masks. Cowley commissioners do not endorse it.
