A fire Monday evening at a house just east of Ark City, leaves that house and a garage a total loss. Investigators say it started in the garage, then spread to the roof of the house before it was extinguished. The flames then later reignited causing further damage. No one was home when it happened. A vehicle inside the garage was completely destroyed. With no fire hydrants in the immediate area, water tankers had to be called in. The first flames were said to be under control around 8pm on Monday, but firefighters were later called back after the flames rekindled, and more of the house was damaged… with most of the roof destroyed. Damage to the house is estimated at about $170,000 and loss of personal belongs puts the total loss even higher.
