As Kansas eases back into business, some entertainment venues, including movie theaters, bowling alleys and museums, will be allowed to reopen beginning Friday. But according to a spokesperson for the Mitchell Theatres chain, their Newton location is the only one that will actually reopen on Friday because it already has everything in place to do so. Theaters in Cowley County and El Dorado as of now, are planning to reopen on May 29th. There are several reasons for the delay according to Mitchell Theatres… one is that film studios are operating with fewer staff members than normal, meaning it takes longer to get the movies. Another big factor is the time it takes to call back furloughed employees, because some employees will be out of town for Memorial Day weekend, and the governor’s notice of reopening came so suddenly that there was no time to prepare for it.
