The City of Ark City reminds, spring is here, and so is mowing season. As yards across Arkansas City begin to grow, this is a friendly reminder that grass and weeds must be kept under 8 inches in height in accordance with the Property Maintenance Code. Property owners are responsible for mowing and maintaining their property from the center of the alley to the center of the street. If a property is found in violation: • A notice letter will be sent with 10 days to respond or provide a plan of action • If no response is received, the City may mow the property and bill the owner for the cost • Only one violation letter is sent per calendar year • Additional violations may be mowed by the City without further notice, with charges billed to the owner Property owners are also responsible for trimming trees and branches over sidewalks, streets, and away from alleyways to help keep public areas safe and accessible.
