The Cowley County Public Health Officer has issued Local Public Health Order 2022-001 which maintains the 10-day existing required isolation period for people who test positive for COVID-19. This is in contrast to guidance from the National Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) that has been much discussed recommending reducing the required isolation period to five (5) days with a mandatory additional five (5) full days of mask wearing for ill persons still recovering. More than 1,500 new cases of COVID-19 have been reported during the first 15 days of January 2022, which has complicated this situation further.
