At this week’s Winfield City Commission meeting, Mayor Ron Hutto proclaimed the week of May 11-17 as police week in Winfield. In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation which designated May 15th as Peace Officers Memorial Day, and the calendar week in which it falls as National Police Week.
