A legal review of two contracts at the South Central Kansas Medical Center will result in no criminal charges. That word comes now, after the Kansas Bureau of Investigation last year, began looking into whether contracts signed between the medical center and Transwise, a healthcare consulting company, violated a state law because Jeff Bowman was CEO of both entities when the contracts were made. During the time he held both positions, he negotiated a contract for his private company to do billing for the hospital and another for outsourcing services such as data entry and insurance coding. The billing contract, estimated at about $6,000 per month, was later dropped, but the company remains contracted with the hospital to this date, for the outsourcing services, for which it billed last year, about $2,500 per month on average.
