From time to time, you hear of this sort of thing, but it is rare so it’s worth mentioning. In Geary County, a dive team was called to Milford Lake Thursday afternoon to pull a pickup truck out of the water. It all happened in the Farnum Creek area about eight miles north of Junction City. Nobody was hurt according to the local sheriff’s office, which released details on just what happened. The truck was being used to launch a boat that was being tested to make sure it was running properly. The boat, which was disconnected from the trailer at the time, was not damaged. The pickup truck was not so fortunate. It was under water for about an hour and a half before it was finally pulled out. The sheriff says the parking brake was set on the truck when it was pulled out of the water so it remains unclear if the vehicle had simply not completely gotten into park.
