On December 21st, 2022 at approximately 8:20 AM members from Winfield Fire/EMS and the Winfield Police Department were dispatched to a residence in the 100 block of North Minnesota in Winfield for a report of a structure fire. Initial information was obtained during the response that there was at least one individual inside the structure. Oone individual was located inside the structure deceased. This is an active investigation between the Kansas State Fire Marshalls Office, Winfield Fire/EMS, and the Winfield Police Department. The identity of the deceased invidual has not been released pending positive identification and notification of next of kin.
