A deadly crash in Cowley COunty over the weekend. The sheriff’s office reports that deputies responded to a crash in the 9000 block of 21st Road on Friday. A caller reported to dispatchers that a car had struck a pedestrian. The driver, a Wichita man named Abdi Osman, was reportedly headed south on 21st Road in a white 2012 Nissam Altima when he went off the side of the roadway in wet conditions. Another driver, 37 year-old Olive Nyirabukrie, also of Wichita, was headed south in her gray 2012 Ford Escape when she had stopped to help Osman in the Altima. That’s when deputies say a third driver, 23 year-old William C. Baker, of Winfield, who was headed south, struck Nyirabukrie’s Ford Escape, causing the woman to be thrown out of the vehicle. Nyirabukrie was pronounced dead at the scene. Baker was rushed to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, where he is listed in serious condition today.
