Patrol vehicle hit, multiple people arrested

On February 5, 2023 at approximately 8:07pm Corporal Roger Wilt with the Cowley County Sheriff’s Office was on a traffic stop in the 26,000 block of 85 th Rd. Corporal Wilt’s patrol
vehicle had the rear emergency lights activated for other drivers on the roadway. Corporal Wilt was standing outside of his patrol vehicle speaking with the driver of the other vehicle when he
saw a vehicle approaching the area. The vehicle, a red Saturn Vue failed to slow down, struck his patrol vehicle, and continued southbound. Corporal Wilt attempted to get the driver to stop
but it continued driving south on 85 th Road towards 71 st Rd. Corporal Wilt pursued the vehicle and informed dispatch that he was in pursuit of the vehicle that struck his patrol vehicle. The vehicle was driving at a very high rate of speed when approaching the curve to 71 st Rd and began to spin as the driver appeared to lose control of the vehicle. The vehicle rolled on its side and came to rest on its wheels. The Driver, Kenneth Raye Corcran, age 20 of Arkansas City, Ks was arrested for Driving while Under the Influence, Flee or attempt to Elude, Criminal Restraint X3, Duty of Driver to report Accident, No Driver’s License, No Proof of Insurance, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and reckless driving. Bond amount is listed as $12,200.00. Passenger, Daniel Laszlo Soproni, age 22 of Arkansas City, Ks. was arrested for Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Bond amount is listed as $2,000.00. Passenger Aaron Christian Griffith, age 23 of Arkansas City, Ks was arrested for a Failure to Appear Warrant with a bond amount of $311.50. A fourth passenger was released at the scene with no charges.
