The Arkansas City Police Department is seeking information regarding a threat made against the Arkansas City Walmart on the evening of July 27, 2026. At approximately 8:25 p.m., a Walmart employee working at the customer service desk received a telephone call from an individual who threatened to come to the store and shoot people inside. Walmart employees immediately notified police, and officers responded to protect customers and employees. As a precaution, Walmart management closed the store early while officers remained at the scene to provide security and assist with the response. “Thankfully, no injuries were reported, and no shots were fired,” Arkansas City Police Chief Jim Holloway said. “We appreciate the cooperation of Walmart employees, customers and the public throughout this incident.” The incident remains under active investigation. The Arkansas City Police Department takes all threats of violence seriously and is working diligently to identify the person responsible.
