An employee at the Arkansas City Presbyterian Manor has tested positive for COVID-19. Now, 7 other employees are being tested, and the employee who turned up positive is in isolation and quarantined at home. While no names are being released due to health confidentiality regulations, the worker was described as an essential employee who does not work in direct care. He or she last worked on June 10th and was sent home after reporting a potential exposure to a COVID-19 positive person through social contact. It should also be noted that the employee passed the facility’s screening and was showing no signs or symptoms of COVID-19 at that time. The worker was tested June 15th and results were received yesterday. The other 7 employees identified through contact tracing will… as long as they remain asymptomatic…. be allowed to work with proper use of personal protective equipment. The total number of cases in Cowley County stood at 45 as of Wednesday, according to the state health department.
