Having lived in Arkansas City her entire life, Cowley College sophomore Kathrynne Giger lived out a dream Friday night as she heard her name called as Queen Alalah XC. The crowning took place inside the Robert Brown Theatre. The first runner-up was Maycee Wolfenbarger. The other three candidates were Kori Ford, Geshawna Francis, and Maddux Gonzales. Cowley College’s own Rhoda MacLaughlin and her son, Spencer, also son of the late Cowley College theatre director Scott MacLaughlin, served as the Master of Ceremonies and introduced the former queens and the visiting queens from surrounding towns in southern Kansas and northern Oklahoma.
