According to a company spokesperson, five employees at the Rubbermaid plastics plant in Winfield have tested positive for coronavirus. They now are in addition to another case that turned up in Cowley County an was confirmed as of Thursday afternoon. According to the local newspaper, the new case pushes the county’s total number of COVID-19 cases to 16, with 12 remaining active. The paper reports that on Thursday, officials would not identify a specific business, but they report that employers are working closely with the health department to help to identify any close contacts and arrange for employees to be tested. The recent cases do not involve the Creekstone Farms meat-packing plant.
