The Cowley County Sheriff’s Office says a Cowley County Citizen was the victim of a scam today on Facebook. While looking for a new pet contact was made through someone stating they had one for sell. The Citizen paid a deposit for the puppy using a Walmart reload card. When the Citizen refused to pay more for the puppy, it was quickly “sold to someone else” but the deposit was not refunded. Since the transaction took place the post has been removed and there has been no further contact from the seller. Please ensure you know the seller, they are reputable with reviews of their business. If you think it could be a scam…it probably is. Be safe and internet aware.
