Two new splash pads will soon be open in Winfield. They are expected to be open by next June at Cherry Street Park and the Winfield Aquatic Center. Splash pads are recreational areas that include things like pipes and nozzles that spray water for kids to play in. The entire project is expected to cost about $300,000, and city leaders say they have already set aside most of the money needed to cover that cost. Design work is underway now, and an announcement about the vendor who is eventually chosen, is expected next week.
