Kansas Independent College Association (KICA) today released the results of a study that estimates the annual impact of Southwestern College on the statewide economy to be $56 million. Furthermore, the report shared that the nearly 8,000 Southwestern alumni living and working in Kansas make significant positive economic contributions to the state. Each year Kansas-based Southwestern alumni generate $71.2 million in economic output. A key result of this economic activity is that Southwestern supports and sustains 480 jobs including direct employment by Southwestern as well as indirect and induced jobs created by supply and equipment vendors, contractors, and laborers for the construction and renovation of facilities, and jobs created in the community at hotels, restaurants, and retail stores in support of Southwestern’s faculty, staff, students, and visitors.
