That suspect who was being chased on Tuesday night through Cowley County was never captured. It all began when the Kansas Highway Patrol initiated a chase at 4:55PM Tuesday near Udall. After a chase through the northwestern part of Cowley County, the red pickup truck that had been reported stolen earlier that day in Ark City, was stopped on Phillips Sheppard Road near the railroad tracks. The still unidentified driver took off on foot, with officers chasing him into a soybean field until the lost him. A police airplane and helicopter were called in to help search, but the man was never found. The search was called off Tuesday night just before 10. The recovered vehicle has been returned to the owner in Ark City. The case remains under investigation.
