The City-Cowley County Health Department has done 51 medical tests since Friday, most of them to screen for illnesses other than the coronavirus… but still they say, it is more than what they would normally do in a month. Seventeen of the tests were for COVID-19, and while four of them have yet to be returned from the lab in Topeka, the others all tested negative. Most of the tests begin as normal screening for the flu. The results of those tests then determine whether or not testing for COVID-19 is warranted. William Newton Hospital told the local paper that while they are preparing for how much worse it might get, they are at the same time, hoping that it won’t, and they are encouraged with everybody’s efforts to contain it.
