The Arkansas City Walgreens store and pharmacy will close in early June, after being at the corner of Summit Street and Radio Lane for the past 12 years. 16 employees will be affected. According to other media reports, Manager Rachelle Tagg said the last day the store will be open is June 3rd. Tagg also said she was not authorized to give any additional details. The coming closure of Walgreens comes now after news that Dollar General in Ark City will also be closing up for good soon. As the economy continues to shrink due to the mass shutdowns mandated by the governor due to the coronavirus scare, more stores are also expected to join that growing list in the weeks to come, unless some easing of restrictions comes soon.
