Winfield leraders are talking about what to do if people show up at the fairgrounds anyway, even thorugh to 2020 Walnut Valley Festival has been canceled due to coronavirus. During Thursday’s city council work session, city manager Taggart Wall says he has actually heard from people who say they will come anyway, so he is urging the city to come up with a health, safety, and sanitation plan. Wall did say anyone can still request an outdoor community event permit, but measures will be taken to prevent large crowds at the fairgrounds. The grandstands will not be accessible and all of the picnic tables have already been removed. The city council took no formal action at their meeting late last week.
