In Winfield, don’t drop that mask yet. City commissioners met last week, and decided that the mandatory mask orders in Winfield will remain in effect until at least December. It was first put into effect back in July, and it requires that masks be worn in public in all areas where social distancing is not possible. There are exceptions… for those with certain health issues, children under age 5, and others. While some members of the public support the mask mandate, many others do not, saying it should be replaced with a science-based proclamation that encourages — but does not require — people to wear a mask, so they can make their own decision, along with other preventative measures. While city leaders said the ordinance will now stand until December, they didn’t give an exact date for any December review.
