Cowley College Creative Claws is preparing to host a collaboration of art and communication during the Words Save Lives event held Monday, September 26, from 7-9 p.m. in the Robert Brown Theatre. An hour before the event, community members and students are welcome to visit booths set up in the Earle N. Wright Community Room. There, individuals can pick up information, visit with those who work with the organizations, do art projects, and find out about upcoming events or other programs or opportunities. The event is about suicide awareness and prevention. Huascar Medina, Kansas Poet Laurette, will serve as the featured presenter and emcee at the event. Medina is the recipient of the American Academy of Poets Laurette Fellow. Medina has chosen Words Save Lives, a program he’s been involved with since it began in Lawrence KS in 2014.
