The Cowley County Public Health Officer, Thomas Langer, said in a press release on Friday that Cowley County. has recorded it’s second case of COVID-19 since March 8, 2020.
The confirmed illness is attributed to an adult female who is an Oklahoma resident that was tested in Cowley County on April 22, 2020. According to Langer, the source of the exposure of the ill person is confirmed, and a family member of the female who is also an Oklahoma resident tested positive for COVID-19 earlier this month. The county of which the female resides in is unknown at this time.
“We are in contact with the Oklahoma State Department of Health and the local county health department in Oklahoma where the patient claims residence, and we are tracing contacts and possible exposures in Cowley County.,” Langer explained. “The patient arrived in Cowley County on April 21, 2020. As of today, the patient is receiving professional medical care for the illness. We have no evidence of widespread community interaction at this point.”
The state of Kansas remains under a stay at home order until at least May 3, 2020.
